【摘要】:Thistestmethodmeasuresmasstransportfromacylindricalsolidifiedwasteformintowaterunderconditionsthataccelerateleaching.Testparameters,suchasthevolumeofleachantandthefrequencyatwhichtheleachantischanged,havebeenoptimizedtoeliminateexperimentaleffects(forexample,saturationeffectsthatcancomplicatemodelingofthenetforwarddiffusionrate).Thistestmethodcanbeusedto:5.2.1Providediffusioncoefficientsforwasteforms;5.2.2Obtainhigherfractionreleasesthancanbeachievedwithexpectedserviceconditionsforgreaterconfidenceinwasteformproperties;5.2.3Obtainmeasurableleachateconcentrationsfrommaterialsthathaveverylowreleaseratesunderserviceconditions;and5.2.4Comparereleasesfromvarioustypesofsolidificationagentsandformulations.Modelingtheexperimentalobservationsobtainedinthetestallowstheextrapolationofleachingresultstolongtimesandtofull-scalewasteformsunderthefollowingconstraints:5.3.1Resultsofthistestmethodcannotbetakentoapplytoreleasesinspecificdisposalenvironmentsunlesstestsareconductedtodeterminetheleachingmechanismunderthoseconditions.5.3.2Projectionsofreleasesrequirethelong-termstabilityofthewasteform,whichmayormaynotbeindicatedadequatelybyshort-termtests.5.3.3ExtrapolationsarelimitedtothemaximumCFLobtainedwiththeacceleratedtest.5.3.4Theleachingmechanismsobservedintestsconductedatelevatedtemperaturesmustbethesameasthemechanismsobservedinthetestsrunatthereferencetemperature.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesamethodforacceleratingtheleachrateofsolidifiedwasteanddeterminingifthereleaseisdiffusion-controlled.Thistestmethodisapplicabletoanymaterialthatdoesnotdegrade,deform,orchangeleachingmechanismduringthetest.1.1.1Ifdiffusionisthedominantleachingmechanism,thenresultsofthistestcanbeusedtomodellong-termreleasesfromwasteforms.Diffusioncanbeconfirmedastheleachingmechanismthroughtheuseofacomputerizedmathematicalmodelfordiffusionfromthefinitecylinder(Note1).1.1.2Theleachingmechanismshouldbeverifiedasdiffusion-controlledbyameansotherthananalysisoftheleachtestdata.Forthispurpose,analysisofpost-leachingconcentrationprofileswithinthesolidwasteformisrecommended.Note18212;ThecomputerprogramandthemodelsarebrieflydescribedinandintheAcceleratedLeachTestMethodandUser'sGuideforthe"ALT"ComputerProgram(1).1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
